Ian Hamilton has obtained the B Comm. LLb. and MBA degrees and is Advocate of the High Court of South Africa.
Mr. Hamilton has until recently been the CEO of the Investment Data Services Group which commenced as Investment Data Services (IDS) in March 2002 as a specialised administration service provider which has assets of $10bn under administration and provides administration for private equity funds and administering conventional unit trusts and is operational in Southern Africa and Malta.
Mr. Hamilton has been associated with the investment industry for over thirty years as an analyst, portfolio manager and director of well-known South African investment houses.
Mr. Hamilton has also served as a director of the South African Association of Unit Trusts and the Fund Management Committee of the South African Institute of Retirement Funds. He is also a founder board member of the Alternative Investment Management Association (AIMA) South African Chapter. At the end of 2008 he retired from the position of Chairman of the AIMA South African Chapter and also as member of the global board of AIMA that sits in London.
Mr. Hamilton was appointed in June 2001 by the Minister of Finance of South Africa, the Honourable Mr. Trevor Manuel, to the Advisory Board of the South African Financial Services Board. Ian was actively involved in the drafting of the Hedge Fund Regulations for the Collective Investment Schemes Control Act.
Apart from being a Director and MLRO of the Company, Mr. Hamilton is currently also a Director of the RICC, which in turn is also the Founder of the Company.
Julian Borg Gauci is the Managing Director at Scotstone Fund Managers Limited. He has worked in the Financial Services industry for over 10 years.
He started his career working with a UK offshore financial services company based in Malta which has around €1 billion under management. Throughout his 8 and a half years with the company, Julian occupied several important positions, amongst which was a Private Client Advisor (authorized by then, the UK Financial Service Authority) and Assistant Manager within the Financial Reporting Department in which he serviced and regularly reviewed new and existing high net worth clients’ investment portfolios. He also held a position in the Compliance department.
Prior to joining Scotstone Group Limited, he worked at large international Trustee Pension Provider in Malta providing personal pension schemes with assets under management of around GBP 600 million. He held the position of Investment Analyst (authorized by the Malta Financial Authority) with the Company and consultant to the Trustees on all investment related matters. He was also responsible to ensure that the investments within the schemes are well diversified and in line with the Malta Financial Services Authority.
During his career, Julian obtained the Certificate for Financial Advisors (CeFA) and Diploma for Financial Advisors (DipFA) from the Institute of Financial Services and the Investment Management Certificate (IMC) from the CFA Society of the UK. He continues to pursue his studies.
Apart from being a Director of Scotstone Fund Managers Limited, Julian is also a Director of the RICC, and a Director of the Investment Manager currently appointed in respect of the Funds of the Company.
Prior to joining Scotstone Fund Managers Limited, Ms. Jasko had been working for Private Equity and Real Estate Investment Funds in Europe and Asia, where she was managing various EU and China based funds. Before moving to Asia she spent several years in Luxembourg working for AEW Europe. Ms. Jasko graduated from ESCP Europe and UEP with Double M.Sc. in Finance, M.Sc. in Management and B.Sc. in Accounting. She acts as an Investment Consultant for Family Offices, HNWI and Venture Capital Investors from US, Europe and Asia. Ms. Jasko is also an active member of Private Equity and Business Angels Associations.
Educated respectively in Malta, Kenya and in the United Kingdom, Mark graduated with honours in Economics and Politics & Government in 1980 from the University of Kent at Canterbury, England. Prior to establishing Hogg Capital in 1995, his career principally in London spanned roles in investment analysis, securities’ dealing and institutional sales, respectively for Charles Stanley & Company Limited, Citicorp Scrimgeour Vickers, and Prudential Bache Capital Funding.
Mark holds various non-executive directorships in Malta domiciled insurance and fund management and administration companies.
Mr Micallef is an executive director at Curmi & Partners and acts as a director and investment committee member for a number of Malta-based regulated entities. Mr Micallef joined Curmi & Partners Ltd in 1999, where his primary focus is advising and managing global investment portfolios for institutions and private clients. He heads the fixed-income trading desk, and is an Accredited Representative of the Malta Stock Exchange (MSE). Mr Micallef received his Bachelor of Commerce (Honours) degree in Economics from the University of Malta and a M.Sc. in International Securities, Investments and Banking from the ICMA Centre, University of Reading. He obtained his CFA qualification in 2009, and FRM certification from GARP in 2017.
Odi acts as an adviser to a number of pension funds, family offices and charities. Over the past several years he has focused and specialised in alternative investments and their application for institutional investors, but more broadly his career has been centred on investment management, risk and governance. He has worked primarily in the private sector, but also spent a number of years in the public sector, in supervision at the Canadian financial regulator OSFI.
Previously he was a Vice President and Head of the Alternative Investment Group at Moody’s Investors Service in London, where he was responsible for managing the company’s global portfolio of hedge fund ratings and was involved in the analysis of a variety of securities of financial institutions and complex structured investment products. Before joining Moody’s, Odi held a number of investment and pension consulting positions, in the UK, Canada and South Africa.
Odi is an Actuary and associate of the Institute of Actuaries in the UK, and graduated from the University of the Witwatersrand in South Africa, in Actuarial Science and Mathematical Statistics.
Jacques has over 15 years’ experience in the financial services industry and is currently a Fund Manager at Garraway Global Equity Fund. Prior to this he has spent several years acting as a Director & Chief Operating Officer of a UCITS & Alternative Investment Fund (AIFM) management company. He currently also acts as an independent director and investment committee member for local regulated entities.
For over seven years he worked for Blevins Franks, a UK offshore financial services company based in Malta, with around €2 billion under management. Throughout these years, Jacques occupied several senior positions, amongst which was a Private Client Manager in which he serviced and regularly reviewed new and existing high net worth clients’ investment portfolios. Subsequently he was nominated the firm’s Head Investment Analyst, responsible for conducting economic, financial market and fund research and analysis. He assisted the firm’s financial advisors in dealing with technical and complex investment issues.
For two years, he also held the position of Investment Manager with Jesmond Mizzi Financial Advisors Ltd, one of the largest local financial advisory firms.
Jacques received his Master’s Degree in Business Administration in 2007 and prior to that received his Bachelor of Commerce (Honours) Banking and Finance degree in 2002, both from the University of Malta. He further obtained the Certificate for Financial Advisors (CeFA) from the Institute of Financial Services in 2008 and the Investment Management Certificate from the CFA Society of the UK in 2011.
